There are numerous sleeping disorders people can become afflicted by. In order to determine which disorder you suffer from and the best way to treat it, you will need to undergo a sleep study performed by a Los Angeles sleep apnea specialist. Sleep apnea is one of the most common sleeping disorders, and if left untreated, it can lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. Another symptom of sleep apnea is insomnia, but insomnia is its own disorder and needs to be treated as such.

The most common symptom of sleep apnea is loud, chronic snoring that is punctuated by pauses in breathing during sleep. These pauses can occur a few times a night or hundreds of time, and either way, they result in drops in blood oxygen levels. This is what ultimately leads to cardiovascular problems. Some of the other issues that can occur are irritability, memory problems, and daytime fatigue.

Insomnia is another common sleeping disorder, but it occurs when someone is unable to fall asleep or stay asleep. A big difference between the two is that many people are unaware they have sleep apnea, but in contrast, people with insomnia will know they have it. In order to treat either condition, you need to get a comprehensive evaluation performed.
